Mangalore : The members of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha (KPRS) under the aegis of CITU staged protest in front of DC Office on May 3, Thursday demanding allotment of house site to poor.
Addressing the protestors, General secretary K Yadav Shetty said that these days the value of land and properties are increasing. The poor are not able to get the housing site. The government is giving the governmental land to private multi-national companies. But the poor are not getting the housing site and license from past 15 years.
He also said that the Mangalore City Corporation have identified and marked the housing site for the poor in Town Municipal region, as forced by the members, hence they must provide the site to the poor in the given time.
KPRS President K R Shriyan said that most of poor people who have constructed house in the government land have still not received the license; hence they are deprived of house door number, electricity, Ration Card and other basic facilities. He urged the MCC officials to allot the door number to the people as they assured.
He also said that there are many poor who could not make the house documents declaration in their name due to lack of knowledge on Land Reforms Act, he added.
Vasudev Uchil, Krishnappa Salian, Ashok Shetty, Yashawanth Maroli, Vasanth Achary and state vice president Shantharam Nayak were present.
