Udupi : To mark the Sri Krishna Jayanti, Sri Vidyavallabhatheertha Swamiji of Paryaya Kaniyur mutt performed ‘Arghya Pradhana’ ritual along with religious hymns, bhajans and discourses to the Lord inside the sanctum sanctorum at Sri Krishna temple.
Prior to the ‘Arghya Pradhana’, he performed Tulasi Archana’ to Lord Krishna decorated diamond amour to the idol of Krishna placed in the form of newborn child and also to Tulasi Vrindavana at 10.30, followed by ‘Mahapooja’.
Later devotees were allowed to perform ‘Arghya Pradhan’ ritual to the Lord outside the sanctum sanctorum.
Huge numbers of devotees were seen waiting in queue to get a glimpse of Lord Krishna during the festival. The temple was decorated with varieties of flowers from the way leading from the entrance to sanctum sanctorum.
Various Bhajan troupes recited nonstop Bhajans from morning 10 till Arghya Pradhana.
Variety of cultural programmes including Muddu Krishna and Rangoli competitions were held as a part of event at Rajangana.
On Sept 17, Paryaya seer will offer morning pooja at 5.30 am and will offer prasadam to the devotees at 8.30 am. Around one lakh laddoos and one and half lakh chakkulis were prepared to offer to the devotees on the occasion.
‘Silver Kavacha’ will be offered to the Kankadasa idol in front of Krishna mutt at 10 am.
Later, ‘Sri Krishna Leelotsava’ or ‘Vittlapindi’ or ‘Mosarukudike habba’ will commence at 3 pm at Car Street.
