Mangaluru : Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) in a unique way staged a stir in the middle of river Netravati against Yettinahole project on Saturday evening.
Several activists of Vedike were seen sailing in boats in the river with the organisation’s flag and banners proclaiming slogans against Yettinahole project.
The activists who started the protest from Jeppinamogaru bridge sailing in the boat shouting slogans against the project, demanding the government to wake up to the situation and withdraw the project.
KRV Leader Rahim Uchil said that Netravati is the lifeline of the region and if Yettinahole project is implemented Netravati river will die a silent death, leaving lakhs of people in lurch.
“A persistent protest against the project is a must,” the KRV members said adding that entire coastal population should unite to protect and save Netravati river.KRV district president Jagadish Aras and other office-bearers were present.
