Doha: The Karnataka Sangha of Qatar KSQ on Wednesday, March 7 achieved a new milestone when its ‘flood lit’ cricket tournament started at night (7 PM). All participating teams were present.
Dr. Mubarak Ahmed al Shahwani was the chief guest, at the old campus of Ideal Indian School M. Pallonji Qatar was the main sponsor of the Tournament and guest of honour.
Social activist Chidananda Naik, Anil Nautiyal of Indian embassy, KM Verghese of ICC, and V.S. Mannangi of KSQ were present during the opening ceremony. The guests were presented flower bouquets by ladies. Mannangi Welcomed the gathering.
Dr. Mubarak and M. Pallonji released the brochure on details of cricket tournament. Sanjay Kudri took the oath and announced the fixtures for 12 teams participating.
A grand march-past was held of teams, and balloons were released by all team captains. A camel parade was an obvious highlight.
The programme was compared by dynamic Arvind Patel, and Deepak Shetty proposed a vote of thanks.
Guests handed over mementoes to all Team captains. Winners will be awarded trophies on March 16 at the closing ceremony.
