Kundapur : KSRP Sub-Inspector (RSI) who was on security duty at the Amasebail Police Station located in a Naxal hit area, has reportedly committed suicide,  on May 29, Friday morning.

His body was found hanging from a tree near the station. He had joined duty at Amasebail on May 15.

The deceased is Mallikarjun Gubbi (56) hailing from Nauraganj in Kalaburagi.

He had gone to bed as usual in his quarters on Thursday night was not to be found this morning. His colleagues began to search for him when a local resident who was on way to the milk dairy saw the body of the RSI hanging from the tree and informed the police.

As cops are deployed on rotation basis for security duty at Amasebail, Mallikarjun was supposed to return to Munirabad where he is originally posted, on Saturday.

The reason behind his suicide is not known. The police officer has left behind his wife and two children.
