Mangalore: The much awaited Yatri Nivas, a rest house for travelers is expected to come up at the KSRTC bus stand at Mangalore very soon. The works are likely to be initiated in June. The Yatri Nivas will be spread over a 2600 square feet area.
The Yatri Nivas would be a great boon to travelers from other places who will otherwise have to avail rooms in lodges by paying a higher tariff.
The Yatri Nivas will offer air conditioned and non-air conditioned room facilities for visitors and will also make arrangements for separate rooms for women considering their safety.
City based Karavali Enterprises has been awarded the contract for running the Yatri Nivas for the next six year period.
The Yatri Nivas would be set up on the lines of the Yatri Nivas functioning in Bangalore.
It has been planned to offer 10 beds in the AC hall and 60 beds in the non AC section. While the tariff for the AC hall per day would be Rs 210, it would be Rs 130 for the non AC category. The halls will be equipped with lavatory and separate luggage box, TV etc. There will be separate cubicles for every two beds.
Those availing this facility will have to produce their identity proof which may be either voter’s ID, pan card or ration card. This rule in order to prevent misuse of the Yatri Nivas facilities.
