Beltangady/Puttur : In connection to the assault on bus driver followed by a minor serial accident with a car at Kokkada, the KSRTC bus drivers and conductors went on strike to protest against the incident on October 10, Friday.
As a part of protest the KSRTC bus driver and conductors stopped all bus operations at Dharmasthala depot. They also urged the officials to take immediate action against the assaulters.
It is learnt that, the KSRTC bus plying between Dharmasthala and Subrahmanya hit a car from behind at Kokkada on Thursday October 9 afternoon, which in turn hit a tourist jeep from front damaging the windowpanes of the car.
After the incident, the people gathered on the spot took the bus driver Puttaraju (30) from Hassan at a corner and thrashed him for driving the bus with an over speed.
Later a person had intervene the situation and took him to a nearby petrol station to save him but the violent mob dragged him back and assaulted him again.
Puttaraju was admitted to a hospital in Mangalore for treatment.
A case was registered against this at Uppinangady police station.
