Bangalore : KSRTC buses  are back on the roads of Bangalore as well as across the state, after the two-day old strike by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) employees ended following fruitful talks between the representatives of the association and the government on Friday night.

After the prolonged talk, Transport Minister and Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok said  the striking workers agreed to call off the strike after the Government offered to merge 86 per cent of their Dearness Allowance with the basic pay. This will be applicable to employees of all the four state transport corporations. Ashoka said this measure would place an additional burden of Rs 250 crore on the government.

The State also agreed to increase the pay of trainee employees by Rs 1,000, taking their total monthly salary to Rs 8,000.   The government has now decided to regularize the services of trainees immediately on completion of their training period of two years, he said.

Acceding to another demand, the State agreed to cancel all the transfers made after March 13, 2012.

A  committee including the employees’ representatives will be formed under the KSRTC Director (Personnel), to attend to various other demands, the Deputy CM said.
