Mangalore : A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Rajahamsa which was moving towards Mangalore from Bangalore plunged 100ft into a subsidiary of River Nethravathi, after being crashed into railings at Kootelu Bridge in the early morning on July 2, Friday.
The driver of the vehicle died on the spot, while other 11 passengers were injured.
The reason of the accident is yet being known, because it may be either due to the drowsiness of the driver or technical problem of bus. Three of the passengers injured are in a serious condition including others are being treated at private hospitals in Puttur.
The injured are conductor Kariappa and passengers Srikant, Chandrashekar, Bhaskar, Dr. Anand of Bangalore, Ravalesh of Jodumutt, Pravin of Jamakhandi, and Charan.
Local assistant superintendent of police, Amit Singh, Uppinangady police circle inspector, B K Manjaiah Naika, and Uppinangady sub inspector of police, Nagesh Kadri, visited the spot and supervised relief operations.
