Mangalore : Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has started the process of offering subsidised bus passes for students for the academic year 2014-15.
A release listed the rates as: Students of classes 1 to 7 will be given free passes for the year; students of classes 8 to 10 will get 10-month pass for Rs. 600 (Rs. 400 for girls). The five-month pass, will cost Rs. 300 (Rs. 200 for girls).
For diploma students a ten-month pass, will cost Rs. 900 and a five-month pass, Rs. 450.
For ITI students an annual pass will cost Rs. 1,150 and for six months they will have to shell out Rs. 575.
Medical and engineering students can avail a 10-month pass for Rs. 1,400 and a five-month pass for , Rs. 700.
For evening college or Ph.D students a 10-month pass will cost Rs. 1,200. Apart from this, Rs. 60 will be charged as processing fee and Rs. 20 for insurance.
Students can collect the forms from their institutions and submit these at the KSRTC bus stand or the counter at State Bank bus-stand in the city.
The pass will allow the students to travel within 60km radius of their educational institutes.
