Mangalore: Regional Transport officer, C. Mallikarjuna indicated here during the RTA adalat(court) show on Thursday, April 5, on the sidelines that KSRTC may run 4 buses within the city by end of this month as city buses, alongside hundreds of private buses.
2 buses will run from Kankanady to Baikampady, but the other route for 2 buses more, has not been decided. The matter is before DK-DC for approval, he added.
MCC came under hot general debate during the Adalat, with its 899km. of roads, of which only 200kms had been concretized. Other roads remained neglected.
To a question, RTO said a pre-paid autorickshaw counter would come up at Mangalore Central in 15 days.
Computerized billing to set up in buses declared at Transport Adalat Meet
Mangalore, Apr 5: The pre-paid auto rickshaw stands at KSRTC Bus Stand and Mangalore Central Railway Station are functioning and the proposal to establish a new stand at the Kankanady Railway Station will be presented for approval in the coming Road Transport Authority (RTA) meeting said Vijay Vikram, the joint commissioner of the RTO.
He was speaking at the Transport Adalat Meet held at RTO on April 5, Thursday. He also said that the pre-paid auto rickshaw stands in the city will be established with new kiosks, shelters for the public and computerized billing systems within 10 days.
He also said that even private buses will be made compulsory computerized billing. Apart from it,
KSRTC bus services will be started from Kateel to Dharmasthala and also from Baikampady to Kankanady on a pilot basis.
Nagarika Hitarakshana Samithi member Nooyi Balakrishna Rao, placed several complaints before private bus owners, RTO officials, and the Auto Rickshaw Drivers’ Association.
A member of an auto rickshaw union also complained against multiple auto rickshaws bearing the same registration numbers, in response RTO officials directed him to provide information on illegal vehicles to take action.
