Mangaluru : Karnataka State Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (KSSIDC) Managing Director Mohammed Mohsin said the KSSIDC has sought 50 acres of land in and around Mangaluru and 25 acres in taluk headquarters from the district administration to develop industrial estates to generate jobs.
Speaking to media persons after interacting with small scale industries representatives of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts here, he said the focus is on promotion of small scale industries under Make in India programme.
“If we get the government land, then the KSSIDC will develop the land and hand it over to the entrepreneurs to set up small scale industries. The KSSIDC will develop 3,000 square foot, 5,000 square foot and 10,000 square foot plots for the small scale industries. There is no shortage of funds for the development of industrial estates. In one acre, eight to 10 units can come up on an average,” he added.
Mohsin said that the industrial area at Yeyyadi is being developed with road and sewage work at an estimated cost of Rs 6 lakh. If the small scale industries association comes forward, the KSSIDC will hand over the maintenance of the industrial estate to the association.
Once handed over to the association, then they will be looking into the issues related to water supply, UGD and streetlights in the area,” he explained.
He said the KSSIDC has eight industrial estates in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
About 350 industrial outlets and 221 industrial plots have been developed in them and distributed among the interested. This has provided jobs to 3,000 people, he explained.
Earlier in the grievances meeting, the small scale entrepreneurs aired their grievances on encroachment of industrial estates’ land at Yeyyadi and Bykampady, lack of maintenance at the industrial estate, problem pertaining to sale deed and others.
Mohsin told them that he would look into their demands.
