Mangalore : As a part of Dasara celebration, the management of Sri Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli appointed two widows belonging to SC/ST community as the Temple Priests on September 29, Monday.

It must be recalled that last year, Temple had appointed two widow priests winning many hearts.

This year temple has appointed Chandravathi hailing from Ranipur and Lakshmi from Chilimbi to serve as the priests in the century old shrine.

The newly appointed priests were welcomed by temple committee leaders including former union minister B Janardhana Poojary at the Temple entrance. Later, they performed pooja and distributed prasadam to the devotees.

Janardhana Poojary said that the temple has taken the steps to give equality to women from SC ST community. The temple authorities will allow the priests to perform in the temple without any discrimination and with due respect.
