Kukke Subrahmanya: The Kukke Subrahmanya temple in Dakshin Kannada district (Belthangady taluk) ha not only an ISO mark on its services and administration, apart from made Mahadeshwara Temple in Kollegal taluk in the whole state, but it stands at the top of 10 richest temples patronized or protested by Hindu devotees in Karnataka with current annual income reaching about Rs. 45 crores.
The Muzrai deptt., till recently handled by (late) Dr. V.S. Acharya of Udupi, as the minister and now under CM as one of the 20 port folios he looks after, has over 34,200 temples. Those who come to Kukke to worship as pilgrims here, are more than any of the other temples found in the state. Administrator H.M. Kali says, that daily around 5,000 visitors arrive at Kukke S. temple, and every month about Rs 60 lakhs are collected as offerings from those 1.5lakh devotees on services.
The second richest temple with ISO certification is in Kollegal (Chamarajnagar Dt.) with its income reaching Rs. 27 crores and third one is Kollur (Udupi dt.) with Rs 17.50 crores. The Coastal region has 4 of the 10 richest temples in state fourth Coastal region has 4 of the 10 richest temples in state, fourth one being In Kateel with Rs 10.10 crores. Dharmasthala and Udupi Krishna Temples are under private management and quite rich
