Mangalore : DC A B Ibrahim said that a total of 60 CC cameras will be installed in and around the Shri Kshetra Subrahmanya temple including the guest houses, at a cost of Rs 49 lakh to enhance security.
He was speaking after chairing a review meeting held at the DC office on September 9, Tuesday. He said that in order to review the progress of the implementation of steps he had visited the Kukke Subrahmanya and Kateel temples in the month of June.
DC said that he said that he has directed the officials to give preference to local people while recruiting security personnel. Apart from it, strict action will be taken against people who discharge waste to Nandini river.
He also said that further the water tanks in both temples will be cleaned weekly once. The tourism department has already handed over responsibility of waste water treatment and the toilets construction to temple.
Around 21,000 sarees given away as offering to deity were distributed to the devotees while 7,000 sarees were auctioned and amount of Rs 8 lakh was collected.
The temple has been equipped with sign boards at eight different places, VIP guest rooms will be ready by October, LED projector and screen has been installed.
Additional DC Sadashiv Prabhu, Kateel temple Trustee Vasudeva Asranna, Ningaiah, Nanjegowda and Uday Kumar and others were present at the meet.
