Bangalore: The Muzrai department commissioner B.G. Nandakumar was proud to announce that Malai Mahadeshwar Temple on state border with Tamilnadu where forest brigand Veerappan was a regular devotee has acquired an ISO recognition. Mr. Vijaya Vasant Betrabet is in charge officer there. It is the first time that religious places and shrines are being recognised in Karnataka.
Several temples out side the state also have got the ISO tag for quality services.
An Anglo-Japanese-American institute has given ISO 9001-2008 certificate to Kukke Subramanya temple in DK district, after watching its traditional and modern administration and service systems.
The Kukke shrine is the richest among all such religious places in Karnataka, coast, while Malai Mahadeshwara Temple stands first in earnings in the state among ancient temples.
During globalisation of 1991, private companies vied with one another in India for universal recognition through ISO mark. The Govt. department companies followed suit although one doubts. About the companies making more business turnovers based on ISO.
But the corporate culture with an ISO brand grew. Now religious temples, mosques and churches could come under ISO recognition, to survive in a break-neck competitive existence.
