Mangaluru : The temple authorities performed Ganga puja at Posaru Gudde , after laying a pipeline from Darpana Tirtha stream on the Kumara Parvata range near Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple to bring pure water to offer in tirtha bottles on Saturday.
Priests from the temple went to Posaru Gudde in the morning to offer the puja. A small jackwell-like structure is made at Posaru Gudde to bring pure water without human touch and hindrance down to the temple, which is located about 2.5 km away.
Arrangements are made to store the Darpana Tirtha water in a large copper vessel within the temple premises to which the priests would mix water from temple’s Tirtha Baavi before filling it to teertha bottles.
Contrary to expectations, the temple authorities could not commence sale of tirtha bottles on Saturday as the new pipeline developed some minor hiccups.
Temple Executive Officer C.U. Poovayya told that as the pipeline on Friday was laid without any intermediary controllers, water gushed down. When the gate valve at the temple was closed to stop flow of water, the pipeline developed some problems.
Hence, it is decided to install one more gate valve at Posaru Gudde to control water flow at the source itself, Mr. Poovayya said and added tirtha bottle sale could resume on Sunday.
