Hubli: Former CM and MP HD Kumaraswamy (JDS) on Sunday talking to press persons opined that Mahatma Gandhi would have become corrupt or leave politics altogether under present situations, if he were alive now. Corruption, he added, had badly affected the nation in general and Karnataka in particular,. HDK asked the north Karnataka people to launch a widespread movement (a la Hazare) against the corruption -ridden BJP led state govt. to make amends.
By the time he ended his speech, he spoke for corruption as “inevitable”, in present context to pursue politics and contest elections to the surprise of media men. He told listeners that as CM he was never corrupt, while implementing the govt. schemes/projects. Yet, he received “donations” for elections and party (JDS) work from “friends” and “well-wishers”, the ex-CM stated.
He advised local people to rise as one man against corruption in BJP circles, and BJP govt. that had neglected the NK region as a whole.
Kumaraswamy pointed out that BJP rulers had totally neglected the development of areas coming under Dr.Nanjudappa Committee’s just recommendations that were implemented quite ineffectively in 3 years.
Basic infrastructural facilities (roads, housing drainage, sanitation and education etc..) in most cities/towns of northern Karnataka, remained out of reach for its common people, HDK explained.
