Putturu : JD(S) leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has set off speculations by paying a visit to the residence of  former MLA  Shakuntala Shetty  who has rebelled  against the BJP and has identified herself with the Swabhimani Vedike.

Kumaraswamy arrived at Shetty’s Kuntur’s residence on the morning of May 6, Sunday along with a few party men, had his breakfast with Shetty and held closed door talks with her for over an hour.

Later speaking to reporters, he clarified that it was only a courtesy call and he as a brother has just visited his elder sister’s residence. “ There’s no need to attach any political colour to this visit,” he said.

Asked if he had invited Shakuntala to join JD(S), Kumaraswamy said  I would be the happiest man if she joins our party, still I have suggested her to remain in BJP if offered a respectable position.”

To another question if Shetty would be made the MLC, Kumaraswamy said he will have to discuss the issue with the party leaders.

Ready to join any party : Speaking to pressmen after Kumaraswamy’s departure, Shakuntala Shetty said she was willing to join any party if offered a good  position, be it either the JD(S) or the Congress.
