Bangalore: History was made on Sunday, when Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath both cricketers, defeated Mysore Prince Srikantadatta Wodeyar and A.V Jayaprakash, to the winning line from retiring secretary Brijesh Patel group. Two years ago, the Prince had defeated Gundappa Vishwanath, but Brijesh had been retained as secretary for 12 years.
In the new setup, Kumble (who has a circle named after him an MG Road closely) becomes President with 559 votes to Prince’s 516. Javagal becomes General Secretary beating Jayaprakash by 644 to 399 votes. In the bargain, bowlers Venkatesh Prasad, Roger Binny and industrialist Sadanand Mayya also moved in to hold office.
The cricketers vowed to uphold cricket in KSCA stadium from lowest levels.
