Anil Kumble, Indian test cricket icon receives a grand welcome from the people of his native place Kumble on June 27, Sunday.
Anil Kumble inaugurated the Telephone Exchange to City Hall road, laid with interlocks made by the Kumble Gram Panchayath with the assistance of the local people. Later he was taken in a procession to City Hall.
Expressing his delight of having born to a family in Kumble, Anil said that he would relish the occasion throughout his life.
The cricket star was felicitated in the presence of nearly 1000 people by the Kumble Gram Panchayat (GP) under the leadership of M. Abbas, the president, and Ashraf Kodyamme, the president of the standing committee.
M. Abbas and MP P. Karunakaran inaugurated the felicitation ceremony. Manjeshwar MLA C. H. Kunjambu,; Kasargod MLA C. T. Ahmed Ali, former MP I. Rama Rai and NRI entrepreneur Khader Teruvatt also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
The vice president of Kumble GP welcomed the guests and gathering and Ashraf Kodyamme proposed the vote of thanks.
