Kasargod : Kumble police successfully arrested a notorious thief, who had been wanted in 25 criminal cases at Moodbidri on May 6, Tuesday night.
The arrested has been identified as Ukkas Basheer (40), who was released one-and-a-half months ago from prison and also committed several thefts even after his release.
It is learnt that, after the three-and-half years of imprisonment, Basheer was released on March 22 and later too he had committed four thefts including theft of ten sovereigns of gold and a mobile phone from the house belonging to Peral Moidin at Kumble.
He also said to have been stolen cash from the donation box at the Talangare Taravadu temple, and laptop and bike from a house at Pilikunje. He is suspected to be involved in several thefts that occurred during the last one-and-a-half months.
Later he was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
