Mangaluru: Eighteen students of city’s Expert PU College have bagged ranks in the ‘Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana’ (KVPY) exams held on November 2017.
The department of science and technology, government of India started the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana in 1999 to encourage students pursuing basic sciences to continue with research career in science.
The aim of this programme is to promote the spirit of scientific inquiry by identifying and encouraging talented and motivated students to pursue career in research.
This programme assists the students in realizing their potential and ensures that the best scientific talent is groomed for research and development of the nation.
Generous fellowship and contingency grants are provided to the selected KVPY students up to the pre-PhD level or 5 years’ course in basic science whichever is earlier.
Summer camps are organized at the prestigious research and educational institutions in the country for the KVPY fellows.
