New Delhi: BJP leader and Jinnah admirer, L.K.Advani has apologized to AICC and UPA president Sonia Gandhi on a false charge he made earlier about Rajiv Gandhi having bank accounts in Switzerland for unaccounted wealth. Advani had to write a letter on Thursday to Sonia G, for his oversight.
BJP has appointed a special enquiry squad of its leaders to detect unaccounted money kept in Swiss banks abroad by wealthy Indians. A report of this panel had accused Sonia G., and Rajiv of having secret accounts for the black money they were supposed to possess in Europe. Sonia had written a letter to Advani in her agony in this connection of a false charge made. Advani reacting to her statement expressed regrets for the references made to Sonia and Rajiv, which Sonia denied.
A panel set up by BJP with S.Gurumurthy and 3 others, had stated that Indians had stashed Rs25 lakh crores in bank accounts abroad to avoid taxes at home. It was the second report of the panel, released by NDA (opposition) leaders. But the Congress is boiling on this issue.
