Bangalore: B.N. Bachegowda, labour Minister, attending a foundation laying ceremony for an industrial training institute (ITI) building on Thursday at Dodadunna Sandra near here, stated that the Ministry had organised 18 employment fairs all over the state and given work/jobs to 1.52 lakhs of people out of 3 lakhs registered for employment. In the next 3 years, it is visualized to employ 8 lakhs of workers in some planned programmes, he added.
In every taluk of the state, we have ITIs. Presently, 1154 centres provide professional training to 1.40 lakhs of students in many vocations, he said. Women are not left out as there are 26 work centres started for them. In Hoskote, 290 students are learning 9 different, useful techniques for suitable employment.
At present, on a 2 acre govt, land, at a cost of Rs.2.70 crores a building will be erected to help students learn trades at this (Kolar) ITI by 2012 end, the Minister informed.
