A total of 7 shops including a fancy store, 3 mobile shops, a general store, an electronic shop and a scrap merchant’s shop, all located near the fish market in SBI circle were burgled on Friday night, under the nose of city police and their many moving night patrol vehicles around.
Lakhs of rupees worth of goods were stolen, with no police watch. The robbery came to light on Sunrise(Saturday morning). The shops were in the rented out complex of Mangalore City Corporation. No watchman was hired in 7 years, when thefts have taken place here.
A complaint to the nearest Pandeshwara made police earlier was of no use. A case has been registered now, by Pandeshwara police who visited the scene and sympathized with the losers, both Hindu and Muslim, before starting investigations. The rainy season continues, at night.
