Mangalore : A new wharf has been proposed at old port, Bunder in Mangalore by the Lakshadweep administration in order to facilitate travelers between Mangalore and Lakshadweep.
Informing this, Lakshadweep MP Hamdulla Sayeed who visited the old port on January 10, Thursday said the wharf proposed by the Lakshadweep administration costs Rs 44.5 crore and the costs will have to be borne by Karnataka and Lakshadweep administrations.
He further said there was a proposal to have a commercial complex as well as housing accommodation at Hoigebazar in Mangalore to benefit travelers from Lakshadweep. A 2.5 acre land has been earmarked for the purpose, he said and stressed to need to strengthen relation between Mangalore and Lakshadweep.
Legislator UT Khader, Ravindra, Deputy Director of Department of Mines, R Mohan, Director of old port, Congress leaders Naveen D’Souza, Ashraf and others were present.
