Puttur : The tusker Lakshmisha  who was injected with tranquilisers on the afternoon of January 2, Wednesday, again turned violent in the night and killed his mahout Chandra.

The incident took place when Lakshmisha who was tamed earlier in the day was taken to his camp at Uppinangady by his two mahouts Chandra and Varadarajan. If Chandra was walking in front of the elephant, Varadarajan was riding atop it. All of a sudden,  Lakshmisha lifted Chandra in his trunk and threw him at a distance, killing him on the spot due to high bleeding.Varadarajan jumped off  the wild pachyderm and then after some time managed to chain him.

On Tuesday, the elephant gave tense moments for the police authorities as well as fire service personnel after it failed to cool down despite frantic efforts by them. The incident took place when Lakshmisha was being taken to Sullia from Puttur. On Tuesday night, veterinarian from Trissur had arrived and injected him with tranquilisers. Later Abhimanyu, the elephant from the Dubaare camp, who had come, somehow helped in getting Lakshmisha out of the lorry.

But in the night Lakshmisha turned violent again and killed his mahout.
