Puttur : Elephant Lakshmisha who killed his mahout on Wednesday night, has been sent to the Kantapura elephant camp on Friday morning.
Three elephants which had come down to Puttur from the elephant were successful in persuading Lakshmisha to enter the specially made iron cage for him. He was taken to the elephant camp near Hunasur in a lorry, thereby making people heave a sigh of relief.
Lakshmisha was born in Sakrebail of Shimoga on October 10, 1989 and his first name was Parashuram. He was named Lakshmisha by the Shiroor seer Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji after the elephant was donated to the mutt by several senior politicians of the district in 1994.
In the year 2004, Lakshmisha had went on rampage on the streets of Udupi after he was angry over his mahout. Then Lakshmisha had damaged several vehicles and had run amock on the streets terrifying locals.
