Mangalore : State Minister for Higher Education CT Ravi distributed laptops to 36 students pursuing research and doctoral thesis at the Mangalore University on January 18, Friday at a function held at the University Senate Hall.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the state government has introduced several programmes for the welfare of SC ST students. He at the same time said the various schemes should not be considered a permanent tool to solve their problems. The minister also emphasized the need to leave out of the reservation system those SC ST people who enjoy privileged positions in society.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. TC Shivashankeramurthi, presided over the function. MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, Registrar PS Yedapadittaya, Umeschandra, SC ST cell officer and others were present.
