Mangalore : Thousands of students took part in a protest rally against sexual attack on women, college students and minors in the state. The Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized the protest rally from Ambedkar Circle to DC office here on July 22 Tuesday.
Addressing at the protest rally Dinakar Shetty of All College Students’ Union said, now a day’s women facing sexual attack and harassment all over the state. The state government is still sleeping. Hundreds of crimes occurred in the district. Akshata murder, Sownjaya case so on., but accused has not been identified yet. Such cases culprits must get death sentence.
Ashwini of University College said, in every sexual attack case culprits must get serious punishment, otherwise rape cases are repeating every day. There is no sufficient protection for women. The government must take grave steps to stop crimes on women.
Shivakumar a ABVP member said, more than 12,000 rapes cases have been reported in the state, such incidents increasing every day. Children are feared to go schools and colleges. The government failed to control the crimes.
Ramesh, state secretary of ABVP , Shyam Bhat, Akshata, Rakshita, Yathish, Anushka and others also spoke on the occasion.
At the end of protest ABVP members submitted a memorandum to the DC.
