Mangalore: The first B.Com student of St Aloysius College (SAC), Larissa Vas has been elected convener of National Women’s Commission (NWC) in a meeting held in Chennai recently at AICUF House.
In-charge of the campus ministry and the vice-principal of SAC, Fr Francis Almeida, and the president of SAC AICUF, Anoop Denzil Viegas have congratulated Larissa.
She is only the second girl after Lizzel Pinto of the same college to be elected as convener with heavy responsibilities toward woman at a time when atrocities committed against women are on the increase.
Larissa in a massage said that the new position was only for 2014 were as she wanted it lifelong to see that in India women were cared for and respected, not only at home but also in public life everywhere as they are not toys in the hands of men anymore.
Fr Francis Almeida in his congratulatory massage said that Larissa had earned a big name at a young age and he hoped that AICUF will produce more women of her kind for the bright future of India.
