Mangalore : The total lunar eclipse appeared in the sky is said to be the last event of the year.
It commenced at 6:15 p.m. and ended at 9:50 p.m., and for a total of 51 minutes from IST 7:36 p.m. to 8:27 p.m., the shadow of the Earth blocked the moon from view.
An eclipse occurs when the moon passes behind the earth and blocks the rays of the sun from reaching it.
Reportedly, such similar eclipse occurred in June, people were unable to watch it because of the monsoons.
A large number of people gathered to witness the the phenomenon at St. Agnes College and Poornaprajna College.
