Manjanady: If the only the river (rain) waters now flowing out to sea without any use of any household could be properly utilised in undivided DK Dt, the people there will be spared from the lack of drinking water and 75% of health maintenance problems, said Marpady Veerappa Moily, Union Law Minister, here at Natical in Manjanady GP on Friday.
He was laying foundation stone for the Manjanady Protection Committee’s Primary Health Centre to be built to a cost of Rs.1 crore in a new building.
Moily explained to the locals that if only drinking water is pure and fit to drink (or wash), we could look after our health to the extent of 75%. So, the people here could build small dams for the river water that goes waste by going to sea, and solve our drinking water shortage problem. The excess water can also be used for dry areas, to make fields fit for agriculture to obtain more crops. Ur (DK) district can become another ‘Punjab’ area in farming in due course, Moily indicated.
The Union Minister stated that stated that a huge plan was ready, at a cost of Rs.485 crores to bring drinking water from Talapady to Byndoor.
CDC Chief B. Nagaraj Shetty, TP Chief Bhavya G Poojary, ZP member Santhosh Kumar Rai, N.S Kareem, and many other local leaders were present.
Manjanady GP president, D. Ismail welcomed and Hameed Kinya conducted the proceedings.
