Mangalore :The mortal remains of Krishnappa Gowda, a non-commissioned officer in the Indian Army who died while on duty at Firozpur zone near Indo-Pak border in Punjab on the Sunday night, was brought to Mangalore by a flight on August 15, Wednesday. The body was received by district officials.
A number of leaders including District Minister CT Ravi, DC Channappa Gowda, SP Abhishek Goel, Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat and ZP CEO Vijayaprakash paid their last respects to the departed soldier.
Krishnappa Gowda’s younger brother Prakash and several relatives were present at the airport. According to reports, he died in a cross fire at the border area.
Thirty year old Krishnappa hails from Belthangady and his family resides at Manjotty in Nada village. He was married just two months ago and had rejoined duty after a holiday on July 13. His wife Latha is a lecturer at S.K.F. Industrial Centre at Moodbidri.
