Mangaluru: “Legal action will be taken against Chakravarthy Sulibele for discriminating and harassing Dalits by making a statement saying that untouchability is still being practised and the streets of Udupi will be cleaned by ‘Kanaka Nade’,” said Dalit leader Raghuveer Suterpete.
Addressing the press personnel on Friday, he said that Hindu outfits are attempting to divide the society in the name of untouchability. Dalit community will hold ‘Swabhimani Nadige’ to give a befitting answer to Sulibele’s ‘Kanaka Nade.
“Rights of the Dalits are being snatched from our hands. After seeing the success of Udupi Chalo saffron outfits have decided to organise ‘Kanaka Nade’. If Kanaka Nade will be organised, then DSHS members will hold ‘Swabhimani Nade on Sunday itself,” he said.
He further said that Dalits have the right to lead a peaceful and respectful life. Intention if Chalo Udupi was not to picket the Udupi math, but it was to demand the rights of Dalits. A memorandum will be submitted to Western Range IGP to arrest Chakravarthy Sulibele, for insulting and hurting the feelings of entire Dalit community through his facebook posts.
