Bangalore : All the 300 legislators of the State are now allowed to hire one more personal assistant (PA) each, whose salary will not be less than Rs 20,000 a month.

Till now, each legislator was allowed to have one PA. This move will put on the State’s exchequer an additional burden of Rs 1.2 crore per month. It comes at a time when the government is advocating austerity measures.

The State government issued an order on Wednesday, creating 300 posts of PAs. The legislators can take PAs on deputation from other government departments or on contract basis.
