Mangalore : A convention of families of de-addicts, a free medical camp and a Sanskritika Vaibhava programme was held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pandeshwar in Mangalore on October 2, Wednesday on account of Gandhi Jayanthi. The programme was organised by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Mangalore and Mangalore and rural units of Jana Jagrithi Vedike. Dr R Prashanth, Assistant Commissioner, Mangalore, inaugurated the programme.
Moidin Bava, MLA of Mangalore North who was the chief guest, said a man who was addicted to vices loses his family, reputation and honour and recalled the dreams of Gandhiji to see India free of alcoholism.
Sadashiva Shetty, Preisdent of Jana Jagrithi Vedike, Mangalore presided over the function. T Sampath Kumar, Pragathinidhi Director of Sri Kshetra Dharmsthala Rural Development Project, Prashanth Gatti, President, Jana Jagrithi Vedike, Mangalore Rural, Raghava M, Project Officer of the Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Sadashiva Shetty and others were present.
Prior to the function, a jatha was taken out from the Dharmasthala Rural Development Project Office at Falnir to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
