Mangaluru: “The thoughts of Kanakadasa should reform our life. We should mount his devotion and dedication in our life to be better human beings,” said district in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai.
He was addressing the gathering during the celebrations of Kanankadasa Jayanthi organized by district administration, ZP, Karavali Kurubara Sangha and Kannada and Cultural department, on Thursday at Town Hall.
“Kanakadasa was not allowed to enter Krishna Math because he belonged to lower caste. He expressed his pan to Lord Krishna through his devotional songs and impressed him. Lord Krishna turned from his place and gave his darshan to Kanakadasa through the broken wall,” he said.
He further said that the truth should not be covered up because it hurt someone. Previously Kuruba community was not allowed to enter into the temples, but now we have a CM who belongs to Kuruba community.
“Some are provoking to follow the isms, but they are preaching about the secularism in public. During the occasion of Kanakadasa Jayanthi we should commemorate those people who worked to bring equality in the society,” he added.
MLAs J R Lobo, Mohiudhin Bava, Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesh, Mayor Harinath, SP Bhushan Borase and others were present during the occasion.
