Mangaluru : The “Life in a Bowl” Series Kolkata, a photography exhibition capturing the vibrant essence of Kolkata, was inaugurated on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 5:00 PM at the Kodialguthu Center for Art and Culture, Ballalbhag, Mangaluru. The programme was graced by distinguished guests Jayanth Kodkani, writer and former Associate Editor of Times of India, Bengaluru; Gurudath Kamath, eminent photographer; and veteran photographer Yajneshwara Acharya (Yajna).
Presented by Chitramaya in association with Art Kanara Trust and supported by Mindcraft Studios and S Cube Art Gallery, the exhibition showcases the works of renowned photographers Prakash Braggs and Sachin Shetty. The exhibition will remain open to the public until Sunday, September 22, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
In his address to the gathering, Jayanth Kodkani emphasized the unique language of photography. “The photographer’s skill lies in capturing the decisive moment. Kolkata has a rich history, and ‘Life in a Bowl’ is a fascinating theme. I hope this exhibition fosters a deeper appreciation for the photographer’s craft,” he remarked.
Gurudath Kamath highlighted that photography involves the eye, mind, and heart, stating, “In photography, we witness the photographer’s perspective, seeing the world through their eyes.” Veteran photographer Yajna encouraged young people to visit the exhibition and learn from the displayed works.
Purandar Chaudhuri, co-founder of the Life in a Bowl collective, introduced the exhibition, while Sachin Shetty shared his personal experiences related to the project. Nemiraj Shetty of Mindcraft Studios anchored the program.
Following the inauguration, a special screening of a documentary film about Kolkata, with a focus on its food culture, was held. On Sunday, an experimental feature film titled Dhushor, directed by Purandar Chaudhuri, was also screened at the same venue.
