Mangaluru : As per the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi people in Dakshina Kannada turn off all the electric lights and light diyas at home from 9 pm and 9 minutes on April 5th Sunday.
Mangaluru MP Nalin Kumar Kateel with his family lights the lamp and diyas at his home. Polali Sri Rajarajeshwari temple light the diyas at round of temple and also at deepa stamba infront of the temple Gopura.
Dakshina Kannada district incharge minister Kota Srinivas poojary also light the diya with his wife.
People across the city switched off their lights at sharp 9 pm and came on to their balconies and out of their doors with torches and lighted candles.
The gesture was a symbolic effort to showcase unity in the country’s battle against coronavirus, and a show of solidarity with the poor who are suffering the most due to shortage or inaccessibility of essential commodities.
