Mangaluru : The district administration on Tuesday urged voters to link the Aadhaar number with their electoral photo identity cards (EPICs) by July 30.
Speaking to presspersons here, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim said the Election Commission of India has launched a National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme in collaboration with C-DAC under ‘mission mode’. The project aims to authenticate, purify and link Aadhaar with the electoral roll, making the electoral roll error-free.
Mr. Ibrahim said there are multiple options to link Aadhaar and EPIC. One can send SMS to 51969 or 166 as: ECILINK. Voters may visit the National Voters Services Portal — www.nsvp.in. Those who are not tech-savvy may submit a written application at the offices of the gram panchayat, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tahsildar or the city corporation.
He said the mission aimed to cleanse the electoral rolls by weeding out bogus and duplicate voters. Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu clarified that was not compulsory to link Aadhaar with EPIC.
