Mangalore : District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar inaugurated an event revolving around the folk arts organized by the Lions Club at Town Hall Nov 19, Saturday
Minister said that Lions Club is conducting the social welfare activities to preserve the Indian culture. Lions Club organized this festival to encourage folk art among its members and also enhance public awareness regarding folk art.
The competitions commenced in the afternoon with a number of PUC students participating. Shakuntala Kini, announcer at AIR; Jayashree Aravind, the amateur poet; and Murlidhar Kamath, the music artist were the judges. Students from six colleges participated in this event.
Among those present were Dr. Chinnappa Gowda, the registrar of Mangalore University; Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor; Lions Club President Kishore Rao, Corporation Bank GM B. R. Bhat; and Lions Club members Prasad Rai, Yogish Kumar Jeppu, Aravind Rao, Aravind Shenoy, M. B. Sadashiv, J. K. Rao, and many others.
