Mangalore: A Liquefied Oxygen supply unit will be set up at the Dt.Govt. Wenlock Hospital soon, to meet the demand of Oxygen in cylinders, during various operations in O.T and ICU(Intensive Care Unit) under emergency.
It would be constructed at a cost of Rs.5 lakhs, sponsored by IOB (Indian Overseas Bank) as a part of its corporate Social Responsibility undertaking in partnered progress. Unit is installed by British Oxygen Corporation.
A foundation stone was laid on Friday by RMO, Dr.P.Saroja who revealed that permission for the project was given by DC-V.Ponnuraj earlier. The hospital is using Malabar Oxygen Cylinders now a days on a rent of Rs.9000 a day. On an average 150 to 200 patients receive daily the aid of such Oxygen cylinders. The cost can go down by 35%, if LO unit started to work. The unit will be completed in 60 days. IOB chief Narendra revealed that his Bank was having its Platinum Jubilee (75) celebrations and was proud to serve all Mangaloreans.
