Mangaluru: Karnataka high court has stayed an order from Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada which shut a liquor shop functioning on government land last month. The court has stayed DC’s order for six weeks and following the stay order the liquor shop has reopened on Sunday.
Earlier, DC had released an order to shut the shop immediately following the pressure from the public. The concerned authorities were sealed the shop following order from DC. However, the owner of the shop moved to high court against DC’s order and managed to get a stay order. The liquor shop had begun its operation on September 11, 2017 amid strong opposition from the villagers.
