Mangalore : The members of Little Sisters of the Poor celebrated the feast of St Jeanne Jugan, who is the founder of their institution at the home for the aged at Bajjodi on August 30, Tuesday.
Presiding over the occasion, Fr Denis Prabhu, the vicar general of the diocese of Mangalore observed the concelebrated mass with nine.
Fr Lawrence D’Souza applauded the efforts of the Little Sisters of the Poor in giving a new lease of life to aged people..
After the Mass the elderly members of the home enacted a play on the life of St Jeanne (1792-1879) depicting the origin of the homes for the aged.
The Little Sisters of the Poor take care of the aged at Bajjodi was started about 33 years ago with the selfless motive. The home is run on donations received from the public.
Dr Jerome Pinto welcomed. Sr Carmel proposed vote of thanks. Fr Marcel Pinto, Fr Peter Noronha, Fr Anthony Serrao and others were present.
