Mangaluru: “Local cattle breeds like Malanadu Gidda, Diyoni, Amruth Mahal and others have registered in international markets and they have a bright future,” said Punjab Animal Husbandry Technical Advisor Prem Kumar Uppal.
He was speaking at a seminar on horticulture and technical aspects at SCDCC hall organized by DK cooperative Milk Diary on Tuesday.
“India has secured third place with 3.90 millions of local breeds. Even cattle breeds of Karnataka also registered in international markets. We should take care of maintaining the quality of the breed,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion KMF Director Dr Ramachandra Bhat said that Karnataka is well advanced in terms of technical aspects. Care should be taken towards maintaining the milk fat and SNF of the milk.
Karnataka Milk Federation President P NAgaraj said that DK is facing problem in supply of fodder to the cattle. This will be solved as soon as possible.
