Kundapur: Revenue Minister Mr R Ashoka visited the villages in the coastal areas on Tuesday which was affected by Cyclone Tauktae.
He said that 106 houses have been damaged by the cyclone fury. Many coconut trees have been uprooted while there have been damages to the bridges and roads. “I have directed the tahsildars and deputy commissioner to pay an instant compensation of Rs 10,000 to those whose houses have been damaged. A compensation of Rs 1 lakh will be paid for those whose houses have been partially damaged while Rs 5 lakh will be paid for those whose houses are completely damaged in installments of Rs 1 lakh each. The power lines have been snapped in many places. I have directed officials to take up the relief works in war footing and restore power. We will release the NDRF funds to the deputy commissioners for relief works. An ex gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh will be given to the kin of those who lost their lives to cyclone fury.”

As lockdown has been effective in reducing the Covid cases and mortality, many are favouring an extension of lockdown. However, CM BS Yediyurappa will take a final call on the issue, said Revenue Minister Mr R Ashoka.
