Mangaluru : For the convenience of the public during the lockdown period, the Department of Posts has been providing essential services to the public at its various branch offices which are functioning from 10 am to 2 pm.
Medicines and other essential items can be sent via parcel from any town to any place in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Arrangements are also being made to extend this facility to nearby districts. In case of sending medicines and other essentials to other states from Mangaluru, the transportaion has to be done via Bengaluru and can be expedited if a request for urgency is made, says a press release from the Senior Superintendent of Posts of Mangaluru Division.
e-money order services : The Department of Posts is also providing e-moneyorder service to remit money to any family member in need in another town. Money can be remitted through this facility to any place.
The beneficiaries of social security schemes are remitted their money through e-money order or by crediting the same to their post office accounts. The Department has sent e-money orders to 5,500 beneficiaries while 24,000 more will get the same this week.
Electricity bill payment can also be done through all post office branches during lockdown period by providing information on RR number and MESCOM sub-divigion.
Mobile, DTH recharge : Customers can also recharge mobile, DTH through India Post Payments Bank at their nearest post office or at their homes through mobile banking.
