Bangalore : Sri Balagangadharnatha Swamiji of the Adichunchanagiri Mutt is in for trouble after the Lokayukta police filed an FIR against him and a few others in connection with a complaint of forgery and land grab.
The action was on the basis of a complaint by C Lakshminarayana, a former councilor of Hulimavu village and trustee and secretary of Ramalingeshwara Swamy Temple Trust. The petitioner has also named IAS officers Veerabhadraiah, Ramegowda and M K Aiyappa and 21 others as respondents in the case.
According to the complainant, some people who had created a trust in the name of the temple, had entered into a deed to sell the trust property to the Adichunchanagiri Mutt thus transferring 15 acres and 31 guntas in 1997 by forging documents. The petitioner said the temple was granted the land in 1981 and 1985 subject to certain conditions.
Yet another complaint was that the Mutt authorities had forged a document from Bommanahalli CMC to facilitate construction near the temple.
